President Donald Trump welcomed reporters back into a White House meeting on Wednesday, a day after his marathon televised meeting on immigration reform.

“Welcome back to the studio. Nice to have you,” Trump said as reporters filed into a meeting in the cabinet room with members of his administration. Reporters laughed in response.

Trump made lengthy remarks at the top of the meeting, appearing very pleased with the news coverage of his televised meeting on immigration reform.

“It was a tremendous meeting,” Trump said. “Actually, it was reported as incredibly good.”

Trump said that the media praised his “performance” in the meeting, giving him rave reviews although he considered it as “work.”

He said the news network anchors ratcheted back their glowing praise, suggesting that their bosses were restraining them after a couple of hours.

“Unfortunately, a lot of those anchors sent us letters saying that was one of the greatest meetings they’ve ever witnessed,” Trump said. “And they were great. For about two hours, they were phenomenal.”

Trump then turned to the topic of ratings, predicting “fantastic” audience ratings for their networks, after they aired the entire 55 minute event live.

“I think the media will ultimately support Trump in the end, because they’re going to say, if Trump doesn’t win in three years, they’re all out of business,” he said.
