Watch North Carolina’s Charlotte-Mecklenburg police confront, then shoot and critically wound a suspect who was holding a pregnant woman hostage.

The incident occurred in September 2017, but video was published on April 5, 2018.

WBTV reports responding officers arrived on scene to find Johnathan Autry had allegedly “forced his way into a home on Holly Street on Sept. 25 and was holding a pregnant woman at gunpoint.” When officers approached Autry allegedly walked out on the porch, gun in hand, holding the pregnant woman hostage.

Officers repeatedly ordered Autry to drop the gun, but he refused. The pregnant woman then managed to put space between herself and Autry, allowing officers to take their shots.

Just prior to the gunfire, the woman can be heard asking Autry to let her go because she was pregnant.

WARNING: Language and Violence:

Autry was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

He had three outstanding warrants and faced additional charges of “first-degree burglary, first-degree kidnapping, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.”
