Rancher and state auditor Matt Rosendale told Breitbart News Saturday that we’re going to “take on Jon Tester and send him back to his farm.”

Breitbart News Saturday host Matthew Boyle started the show, noting that several prominent conservatives have won their respective primaries this past week, including West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey and Dr. Mark Harris in North Carolina.

Boyle asked Rosendale why he believes that “we’re having all of these conservative grassroots victories across the country.”

Rosendale argued, “I think because we have been able to put candidates forward who are conservative and have the ability to articulate the ideas and the agenda that we’re trying to put forward and how the general public stands to benefit from those ideas and those concepts.

The Montana rancher continued, explaining why America needs a wall on the southern border with Mexico.

“The one thing that our nation is truly responsible for is securing the nation, make sure the citizens are safe,” Rosendale told Breitbart News Saturday. “When you look at all of the problems that are streaming and flowing over that border, the first thing we have to do is secure it. Job number one. Once you secure that border then we can start doing an analysis of what we are going to do with all of the folks that got here illegally.”

Boyle asked Rosendale how Congress can curb spending and avoid passing spending bills such as the $1.3 trillion spending bill that prevents President Donald Trump from building his proposed wall on the American southern border.

Rosendale said, “You have to elect people that will actually serve the way they campaigned, like Matthew Rosendale, like Patrick Morrisey, that are going to go up there and make those difficult decisions and say we are not going to go along with these great big fat spending bills.”

Breitbart News reported this week that Rosendale’s primary opponent, Russell Fagg, supports an Internet sales tax for the state of Montana. Rosendale contends that Montanans do not want another tax.

Rosendale charged, “The people of Montana have made it clear for decades that they don’t want to see another tax. We do not have a sales tax right now, and to introduce another tax in any form or fashion, folks aren’t just going to support that. The thing is that we’ve got Sen. Daines, Congressman Gianforte [R-MT], the [Montana] Attorney General Tim Fox, we all oppose any type of a new tax.”

Boyle noted that Sen. Jon Tester (D-MT) serves as the most “most reliable vote for Chuck Schumer” amongst the vulnerable Democrats up for reelection in 2018.

The Montana Senate Republican primary is on June 5.

Rosendale leads his closest Republican primary opponent, Fagg, by more than double digits, according to a poll released by Club for Growth in April.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) wrote in a Montana Independent Record op-ed this week that rancher and state auditor Matt Rosendale is “a fearless conservative leader.”

Matt Rosendale remains the sole Montana Republican primary candidate who has had current members of the U.S. Senate endorse his campaign. More than 30 Montana-elected officials have also endorsed Rosendale.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) endorsed Rosendale for the U.S. Senate.

Rosendale concluded, “We want to push through the primary, unite the party here in Montana, and take on Jon Tester and send him back to his farm.”

Breitbart News Saturday airs on Sirius Patriot Channel 125 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Eastern.
