A suspect was shot and fatally wounded in Las Vegas while attempting an alleged home invasion in broad daylight Wednesday.

A second suspect fled the scene after shots rang out.

Fox 5 reports that two suspects allegedly climbed a wall around the yard, and one of the suspects used a bar to pry open a sliding window. When the homeowner figured out what was happening, he grabbed his gun and opened fire.

The wounded suspect ran from the home, then collapsed in the street.

KSNV reports that police arrived to find a trail of blood showing the path the suspect took to the street after being shot. A pool of blood stained the road where he collapsed, and police worked Wednesday night to remove the stains.

Neighbor Elizabeth Cannon said she was not a bit surprised by the alleged robbery attempt. She said she once had a “turtle tank” sitting on her front porch until “someone gravitated towards it and stole it.”
