Marco Rubio Whiffs, Raises Just $6 Million in 3rd Quarter, Half His Previous Total

According to the FEC, Marco Rubio ended the second quarter fundraising period with $10 million in the bank. If the $11 million reported by his campaign is accurate, then the $6 million raised over the last three months only added around $1 million to his campaign war chest for the Fall. Kevin McCarthy’s decision throws the search for a new House Speaker into chaos. It also, temporarily at least, blocks movement on a planned reshuffling of the House Republican leadership team. House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s (R-CA) decision to drop out of the speakership race shows “deep divisions and dysfunction” among House Republicans, Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer (D-MD) argued Thursday. “As a result of their divisions and their efforts to disrupt Congress’s work, we’ve experienced a government shutdown, a near-default on our debt, and too many missed opportunities to grow our economy and support job creation,” Hoyer said in a statement.
