Texas Toddler Burned to Death in Oven by 3-Year-Old Sibling, Left Alone by Mom

A toddler died after she was burned to death in an oven when the children’s mother and her boyfriend left four children under the age of five unattended. A three-year-old sibling allegedly turned on the oven after the 19-month old toddler climbed into the oven. Child Protective Services (CPS) now has custody of the three surviving children.

Pro-Syrian Refugee Protest Draws Hundreds to Texas Capital

Hundreds of pro-Syrian refugee activists took to the streets of Austin, Texas, this weekend to protest Governor Greg Abbott’s order to refuse the resettlement of Syrian refugees into Texas. One week ago, the Texas governor ordered state agencies not to participate in any federal resettlement programs. He also urged the White House to stop its program of bringing un-vetted Syrian refugees into America. Abbott partnered with at least thirty other governors in refusing the refugees from Syria.

16 Wounded as Gunfire Erupts at New Orleans Block Party

It was another example of the nationwide epidemic of black-on-black violence, as a shooting at a park in New Orleans’ 9th Ward sent at least 16 people to the hospital Sunday night. An unpermitted block party at Bunny Friend Playground with an estimated 500 people in attendance turned violent when two rival groups opened fire on each other. Victims, including a 14-year old girl, were all listed in stable condition.
