DirecTV subscribers now have to worry about losing their Fox channels. Screw that.
Broadcasters and cable nets need to start streaming their channels to cut out the middle man — to put an end to this nonsense.
And stream the channel live, if you wish, so that advertisers know their stupid commercials are being watched. In fact, you can’t even zip through commercials when you stream because you can’t record streaming content on a DVR.
Why must I be burdened with thinking of everything?
‘PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 3’ SET TO SCARE UP $40M+
Our fantastic new addition to the team, Mr. Toto, reviews the film here. My admiration for those capable of crafting successful horror films knows no bounds. I can’t think of anything more difficult to create in the art of motion pictures than a genuine scare, sense of dread, or gut-churning tension.
The job of a filmmaker is to cast a spell and not break it, and with a horror film the spell is especially easy to break — a bad edit, an off-key piece of music… Though I probably won’t see “Paranormal 3” until it hits Redbox, I’m a huge fan of this franchise and am in awe of how the first two were able to ratchet the tension up to a point where you almost wanted to stop watching… almost.
We go to the movies because we want to escape and “feel” something. The goodwill the first two “Paranormals” generated by delivering on that promise is why the third will likely and should make $40 million its opening weekend.
PHOTOS OF MERYL STREEP’S AWFUL ACTING AS MARGARET THATCHER
Look at Streep’s eyes in the photo linked above, look at how she self-consciously purses her lips. It’s all technique and Oscar-posturing. Streep is one of the worst actresses working today. A total phony who telegraphs her ACTING.
Look at me I’m acting, I’m acting!!
She’s the worst.
The. Very. Worst.

LAST NIGHT’S SCREENING
After four exhausting months of preparing to move ourselves across the country, moving ourselves across the country, and fixing up our house, this weekend has been designated a movie weekend. We’re going to close the curtains, light the fire, eat junk food, stay up late, and show the Blu-ray player who’s boss.
It’s been a while. Hope I don’t get a cramp.

CLASSIC PICK FOR SATURDAY, OCTOBER 22
TCM:
8:00 PM American in Paris, An (1951) — An American artist finds love in Paris but almost loses it to conflicting loyalties. Dir: Vincente Minnelli Cast: Gene Kelly, Leslie Caron, Oscar Levant. BW-114 mins, TV-PG, CC.
Pure artistry with no tricks, gimmicks or short cuts. No fancy editing, no CGI and the only smoke and mirrors are the real smoke and mirrors used in a climatic dance sequence that represents the height of filmmaking. Epic and irreplaceable talents in the arenas of dance, photography, design, performance, and the written word brought this masterwork to life and don’t let the snobs push you around on this one. There’s nothing corny or old-fashioned about a story driven by a theme about purchasing sex.
I had the pleasure of seeing this on the big screen a few months ago. Leslie Caron attended as did Gene Kelly’s widow. Man, I love me some movies.
