Star Trek sequel Filming in Livermore Lab

LIVERMORE, Calif., May 2 (UPI) — Scenes from director J.J. Abrams’ upcoming Star Trek sequel are being shot at California’s Lawrence Livermore Laboratory this week, officials said.

Filming is taking place in the lab’s spacious National Ignition Facility where scientists experiment with ultraviolet laser light, said Dale Kaye, president of the Livermore Valley Chamber of Commerce and a Livermore Valley film commissioner.

Set to open in May 2013, the untitled sequel to 2009’s “Star Trek” will once again star Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban and Zoe Saldana.
