Who could have predicted this? Tom Cruise, 49, the paragon of normalcy (just ask Brooke Shields) is getting divorced again.
He and Katie Holmes are splitting up after five years. That makes three times for this guy.
Cruise once said of Scientologists, of whom he is a champion, “he or she has the ability to create new and better realities and better conditions.”
He does seem to do that a lot. It’s hard to know if Ms. Holmes, 33, would appreciate being jettisoned for Cruise’s new and better reality, but her attorney said, referring to their 6-year-old daughter Suri, “Katie’s primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter’s best interest.”
Cruise is also the same guy who, when interviewed by Matt Lauer on the Today Show about Shields, said, “There is no such thing as a chemical imbalance.”
Hmmm. How do you explain him jumping up and down on the couch in 2005 on the Oprah Winfrey Show about his newfound love for Katie Holmes? He was so frenetic that a phrase was coined — “jumping the couch” — which was named the Slang of the Year by the editors of the Historical Dictionary of American Slang. They defined “jump the couch” as exhibiting “strange or frenetic behavior.”
Cruise was previously married to Mimi Rogers (1987-90) and Nicole Kidman (1990-2001).
