Tea Party Slams Jones for Racism Charge, Demand Apology

The Tea Party Patriots aren’t being cowed by the voice of Darth Vader dubbing their members racist without proof.

The small government group issued a stern statement to the press today, blasting James Earl Jones for comments he made on the public radio program “Smiley & West.”

Here’s the group’s Facebook page comment regarding the actor’s charge that Tea Party types are racist:

Today, the nation’s largest tea party organization called on actor James Earl Jones to apologize for his divisive and irresponsible comments.

“This is another example of an actor playing the politics of division and deceit,” said Jenny Beth Martin, national coordinator of Tea Party Patriots. “It is time to come together as one nation to overcome the economic drag Washington politicians have imposed on all Americans.”

Jones isn’t the first celebrity to call the Tea Party racist without proof. Others who did essentially the same are Janeane Garofalo and Chris Rock.
