Filmmaker Michael Moore couldn’t wait to share his thoughts on the tragic theater shooting earlier today in Aurora, Colo.
As President Barack Obama’s key adviser once said, “you never want a serious crisis to go to waste.”
So the Oscar-winning progressive behind “Fahrenheit 9/11” and “Sicko” turned to Facebook to spread his reaction. And, typically, Moore didn’t waste the opportunity to allow a single tragedy to paint his homeland in ugly terms.
Having spent much time in the Aurora/Denver/Littleton area over the years, I am too sad about this most recent tragedy to comment at the moment, other than to say this:
I fear anthropologists and historians will look back on us and simply say we were a violent nation, at home and abroad, but in due time human decency won out and the violence ceased, but not before many, many more died and the world had had its fill of us.
Moore’s disgust with his fellow Americans is profound. Not only does the filmmaker hate this country, he will use any crisis to let us know it.
