Obama Returns to Defunct Cable Show for Latest Celeb Fundraiser

The newest celebrity-filled fundraiser for President Barack Obama isn’t tied to any A-list star or girl power icon.

Instead, the critically hailed series “The Wire,” which ran for five seasons on HBO and ended in 2008, is the inspiration for a new fundraiser featuring several actors from the series.

According to a fundraising flyer discovered by the Sunlight Foundation, the event will occur on Aug. 15 at the Martha’s Vineyard home of Judy and Ron Davenport. Tickets will cost between $500 and $2,500 per person. But the flier does not reveal which cast members of “The Wire” will be on hand to help the president’s effort.

One actor that could be in attendance: Michael K. Williams, whose character, Omar, the president has cited frequently as his favorite on the show.
