Crunch Time: Publisher Recruits 90 Celebrities to Back Failed President

President Barack Obama’s legion of liberal celebrity supporters must be getting nervous. A president with a devastatingly bad resume will do that to you.

Some of the president’s most loyal, and famous, backers are rallying to the his side courtesy of a new web site from McSweeney’s.

McSweeney’s, the publishing outfit created by author Dave Eggars, has launched 90 Days, 90 Reasons where celebrities can sound off on why a second dose of Hope and Change is exactly what this country needs.

Film critic Roger Ebert, hardly shy about his political views, is one of two celebrities who kick off the site. Future stars will include writer/director Judd Apatow (“Knocked Up”), “Portlandia’s” Carrie Brownstein and Arcade Fire’s Win Butler.

Looks like there’s not much heavy lifting at the site so far. Ebert’s essay praising ObamaCare is all of three paragraphs in length, hardly long enough to change a heart or a mind.

Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie doubles Ebert’s effort with a short ode to Obama’s “evolution” on gay marriage. Of course, Obama’s declaration earlier this year supporting same sex marriage put zero actual weight behind his new gay marriage beliefs, but at the end of the day it’s all about emotions, right?

Celebrities will have to get pretty creative to defend the notion of a second Obama term. So far, the site’s boosters are hardly working up a sweat, let alone making sturdy cases for Obama 2.0.
