Rotten Tomatoes Editor: Critics Won't Give 'Atlas' Sequel Fair Shake

The minds behind “Atlas Shrugged: Part II,” opening today in theaters nationwide, didn’t bother screening the film for mainstream movie critics.

Matt Atchity, the editor in chief of the film review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes, understands why.

“It’s sometimes a fear due to the general conception that most of the press leans to the left, and this film obviously leans very far to the other side. It is rare that you will get reviews of overtly political movies without reviewers’ personal politics coming into it,” Atchity said.

One need only read some of the openly hostile reviews filed for “Won’t Back Down,” a film with a pro-school choice message, to witness film critics bringing their ideologies directly into their assessments.
