Trailer Talk: Burns Exposes Dark New York Story in 'Central Park Five'

Documentarian Ken Burns is one of three directors behind a new film “The Central Park Five” examining a case from the 1980s where a group of young men were convicted of a crime they didn’t commit.

Synopsis:  A documentary looking back at the 1989 case of five black and Latinoteenagers who were convicted of raping a white woman in Central Park. After having spent between 6 and 13 years each in prison, a serialrapist confessed to the crime.

This film doesn’t look like it’ll give the liberal Burns a whole lot of time to preach modern-day politics (which is good). Rather, “Central Park Five” looks to be a worthy journalistic and investigative endeavor into both a shameful act and a shameful time for many in this country.

Stories like these always need to be told, but they also always need to be told with the right voices. Let’s hope Burns and company are those right voices.
