Eddie Murphy is back on top, but it’s not something that will please the “Beverly Hills Cop” star.
Murphy is number one on Forbes Magazine’s 2012 list of overpaid actors. The “Saturday Night Live” alum ruled the box office years ago with hits like “Trading Places,” “Coming to America” and three “Cop” films. Now, his films generally land with a thud even though his paychecks remain impressive.
Following Murphy on the list is Katherine Heigl, who has been dealing with flops such as “One for the Money,” which failed to earn back its estimated $40-million production cost at the box office.
Oscar-winners Reese Witherspoon and Sandra Bullock came in at Nos. 3 and 4, respectively, on the list, with Jack Blackrounding out the top five.
The next five are Nicolas Cage, Adam Sandler, Denzel Washington, Ben Stiller and Sarah Jessica Parker.
Both Sandler and Washington can still draw a crowd, but their fat paychecks grant them access to Forbes’ annual list.
