Robert Redford Begs Obama to Reject 'Dirty' Keystone Pipeline Oil

Progressive actor Robert Redford must not have heard about Solyndra or any of the other crony capital green energy busts in President Barack Obama’s first term.

Redford has a new op-ed at The Huffington Post begging Obama to stay the course, embrace all things green and reject dirty, dirty oil.

It’s easy for Redford, flush with the kind of cash that can pay premium prices for inefficient green energy, to preach to the enviro-choir. Meanwhile, ordinary Americans see their tax dollars fly out the window with Solyndra-like deals and watch other nations capitalize on their homegrown oil resources.

From rejecting the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline to limiting carbon pollution from our nation’s dirty power plants, President Barack Obama’s legacy will rest squarely on his response, resolve, and leadership in solving the climate crisis.

The Keystone XL tar sands pipeline would carry the dirtiest oil on the planet from Canada to America’s Gulf Coast’s refineries and ports, and then most of it likely exported overseas. It would promote one of the most damaging industrial practices ever devised, to coax low-grade crude oil from tar sands. We don’t need another pipeline for Canadian tar sands. It’s not in our national interest but is a profit scheme for big oil that needs to be rejected….

Wind, solar, and other renewable power, now that, to me, is the future. It’s clean energy that will produce new and plentiful jobs for generations to come without the disastrous effects of tar sands and carbon-belching power plants.

You don’t need to be an economics major to see how little impact “green jobs” are having at the moment under Obama’s watch. Redford’s piece clings to far-left talking points, from the climate change fear mongering to the magical ability of today’s renewable resources to power our future.
