Conan O'Brien to Host 2013 White House Correspondents Dinner

Late night talker Conan O’Brien will be charged with mocking President Barack Obama during this spring’s annual White House Correspondents Dinner.

“Thrilled to reveal @ConanObrien has agreed to headline White House Correspondents Association’s scholarship dinner April 27 @TeamCoco,” WHCA president and Fox News Channel correspondent Ed Henry tweeted this morning.

O’Brien previously hosted the event, a D.C. confab featuring Hollywood heavy hitters and Inside the Beltway types, during President Bill Clinton’s time in the Oval Office. Last year, rising star Jimmy Kimmel did the honors, managing a few well-written jabs at the president.

How will O’Brien fare? He’s hardly the worst late night offender when it comes to ignoring Obama as a source of political humor. Both David Letterman, whose far-left stance has intensified in recent years, and Jimmy Fallon, who is regularly used as a tool for Obama’s talking points, are far more biased.

Still, O’Brien hasn’t broken any new ground with Obama gags, so it will be surprising if the red-haired comic treats Obama as Stephen Colbert did to President George W. Bush.
