ABC Family Starts Production on Show Featuring Two Moms, Blended Family

The ABC Family channel began production today on a new series featuring two moms raising a blended family together.

The press release announcing the news keeps some program details vague, but it does directly bring up the issue of same-sex marriage.

The show, produced by Jennifer Lopez, will begin on at 9 p.m. EST June 3, which the channel notes is when the headlines will be swirling around a possible Supreme Court decision on both Proposition 8 and the Defense of Marriage Act.

“In addition to gay marriage and parenting, the groundbreaking and thematically diverse series addresses the foster care system, mixed race families and teen issues that will keep the conversation going,” the release says.

The ABC Family channel is distributed in 97 million homes.
