This week’s gathering of the nation’s former and current president at the George W. Bush Presidential Library opening gave Americans the chance to see a truly bipartisan moment in politics.
No rancor, just smiles–and a mutual understanding of how difficult it is to be the Commander in Chief.
Of course, President Barack Obama couldn’t resist using the moment to push for immigration reform on his terms.
Comedy Central’s Jon Stewart did Obama one better, leveraging the apolitical event to bash President George W. Bush anew. Must have felt grand to fight the power like it was 2004 all over again, but poor Stewart was a tad rusty.
“Bush is back, baby … stay cool, Jonny boy,” he told himself before assembling a group of generic Bush slams that seemed like leftovers from a show he taped in 2007.
