The much-discussed film adaptation of American Sniper, the autobiography of late Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, finally has its director.
Oscar-winner Steven Spielberg will oversee the film, to star Bradley Cooper as the decorated warrior.
Spielberg is one of Hollywood’s most free-spending liberals, giving millions to both progressive causes as well as President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign. He’s also an unabashed supporter of the U.S. military via projects like Band of Brothers and The Pacific.
Kyle, a former rodeo cowboy, shattered the U.S. military’s record with more than 150 officially confirmed kills during his service to his country. He was killed Feb. 2, 2013 by a fellow military member suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.
