Miguel's Flying Leap May Have Left Audience Member with Brain Damage

Miguel, the pop singer who attempted a flying jump over a pit of people at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas only to land on an audience member, may be faced with a harsher lawsuit then was initially expected.

The victim may have suffered brain damage as a result of his accidental attack.

Khyati Shah, who was struck by Miguel’s right thigh, was slammed against the stage: her symptoms have indicated she may have brain damage. Her lawyer, Vip Bhola, said, “Some of the difficulties she’s experiencing are cognitive in nature and lead to suspicion of a neurological head injury.” Bhola stated that officials at the Billboard Music Awards were negligent by offering her an ice pack rather than taking her to the hospital. Shah has had neurology tests taken and is waiting for the results.

Bhola said he was willing to settle out of court.

After Shah was hit, she remained unseen while Miguel continued singing with his arm around another woman. After the number, Shah posed with Miguel, with an ice pack on her elbow, and Miguel referred to her as his “new friend.” He later tweeted, “Got caught up in moment, thank goodness Khyati is okay.”
