Charlton Heston's 'Ben Hur' Still A Classic, Jim Carrey's 'Dumb and Dumber To' Not Going To Happen

From the moment Jim Carrey went on his anti-gun tirade in March–mocking the late Charlton Heston and classifying gun owners as “heartless motherf%ckers unwilling 2 bend 4 the safety of our kids”–his career has been in a slide.

In fact, Yahoo News reported that Carrey’s last film, The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, only grossed $22 million domestically and Warner Bros. just announced it will pass on Carrey’s sequel to Dumb and Dumber

Titled, Dumb and Dumber To, Warner Bros. reportedly “saw little potential in [it].”

As it turns, the video Carrey released as part of his anti-gun tirade may have been both the most talked about and the most damning thing he’s done in years. Playing the role of a singer in a band whose other members were all “victims of gun violence”–Ghandi, John Lennon, and Abraham Lincoln–Carrey sings:

Charlton Heston movies are no longer in demand

His immortal soul may lay forever in the sand

The angels wouldn’t take him up to heaven like he planned

Because they couldn’t pry that gun from his cold dead hand

Eventually Carrey gets to the chorus of his song which is simply the refrain, “cold dead hand” over and over again.

At the end of the day, Warner Bros. sees “little potential” in Carrey’s latest movie idea, but Heston’s Ben Hur is still a classic.
