Kevin Spacey: TV Trumped Music Biz by Embracing Technology, Audience Demand

Kevin Spacey gambled when he signed on for Netflix’s first major original series, House of Cards. That bet paid off in spades with today’s Emmy nominations, as the show won nine nods including Best Drama and Best Actor for the two-time Oscar winner.

Spacey shared his thoughts on the show and what it means to the entertainment industry at TheWrap.com. He also discussed how Cards meets the needs of today’s audiences while keeping his peers in business.

The Emmy success, he said, only adds to what the show has already done in changing the marketplace. “We are giving the audience what they want, which is the freedom to discover it the way they want to discover it. And I think it also in some measure shows that we have learned the lesson that the music industry didn’t learn — that if you give people what they want, when they want it, in the form they want it in, at a reasonable price, then they’ll buy it and they won’t steal it.
