Happily Ever After? New Princesses Photo Series Begs to Differ

Most fairy tales end with a princess finding true love or otherwise relishing a happy ending.

That begs the question, what happens next?

Photographer Dina Goldstein’s dark new collection offers a stark, unflattering answer. The series shows iconic story characters like Snow White, Rapunzel and Pocahontas living lives that hardly look like a fairy tale.

Snow White is enduring an unhappy marriage with a beer-swilling Prince Charming and Rapunzel’s chemo treatments have cost her her signature locks.

My Fallen Princesses series was born out of deep personal pain, when I raged against the “happily ever after” motif we are spoon fed since childhood,’ explains the Tel Aviv, Israel-born photographer….

‘I am a fierce realist so I wanted the Princesses to be in real life situations with problems of their own,’ Ms Goldstein explains.
