Samuel Goldwyn Films now owns the rights to the documentary Anita, directed by Freida Mock, which documents the furor that erupted during the confirmation hearings for the nomination of Clarence Thomas for the Supreme Court.
It revolves around Anita Hill, who was a law professor from Oklahoma who alleged that Thomas had made salacious comments to her and sexually harassed her when she worked for him. Hill is featured speaking of the incident in the film.
Peter Goldwyn, Senior Vice president of the company, said:
We are excited to be working with the talented Freida Mock in bringing Anita’s powerful, life-changing story to not only the people who live through the circus of the hearings but also to a new generation. Anita’s impact on the course of history over the last 20 plus years shouldn’t be forgotten and this film celebrates her legacy.
Goldwyn will release the film, which had the full cooperation of Hill, this fall.
