'Warmest Color' Director Threatens to Sue Film's Star Over 'Slanderous' Comments

The stars of the new lesbian love story Blue Is the Warmest Color are trashing the film’s director in the press for what they dubbed an awful work environment.

Now, director Abdellatif Kechiche is threatening to sue one of the film’s actresses for slandering his good name.

The film itself, an NC-17 film opening in select theaters Oct. 25, features a 10-minute sex scene and other adult elements. Committing those moments to film proved arduous, the key cast members allege.

It was horrible,” [‘Blue’ star Lea] Seydoux said of the five-and-a-half-month production in an interview with The Daily Beast. “He didn’t really know what he wanted. We spent weeks shooting scenes. Even crossing the street was difficult.”

Both actresses agreed the 10-minute sex scene was the hardest thing to shoot.

“Most people don’t even dare to ask the things that he did,” [Adele] Exarchopoulos said. “And they’re more respectful.

Kechiche exploded over Seydoux’s comments during a joint press conference in L.A. reducing his starlet to tears in the process. Now, the director has penned an open letter to his cast, accusing Seydoux of pelting him with “slanderous” words.

I will come back,” Kechiche wrote. “It is for her to explain in court.
