Can a reality show superstar sway an election?
Duck Dynasty mainstay Willie Robertson is backing Louisiana Republican Vance McAllister in Saturday’s special congressional election, a seat the TV personality briefly mulled for himself weeks ago.
Robertson is coming out in support of the candidate in a TV ad, telling voters to “get out Saturday, November 16, and vote for my good buddy Vance McAllister. Let’s send somebody from the 5th District who speaks for us to help turn Washington around.”
McAllister, a wealthy businessman and political newcomer, is the underdog in the runoff against Republican Neil Riser, a sitting state senator who has outspent him by more than $200,000.
