'Thor' Wins Weekend, Spiritual 'Holiday' Finishes a Strong Second

LOS ANGELES, D.C., Nov. 17 (UPI)–“Thor: The Dark World,” starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman and others, sat atop the box office for the second week in a row with $38.454 million.

“The Best Man Holiday,” starring Regina Hall, Terrence Howard and an ensemble company, was a close second with $30.593 million.

All studio estimates of gross North American receipts are via Box Office Mojo.

“Last Vegas” was third with $8.85 million; “Free Birds” fourth with $8.3 million; “Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa” fifth with $7.67 million; “Gravity” sixth with $6.28 million; “Ender’s Game” seventh with $6.2 million; “12 Years a Slave” eighth with $4.7 million; “Captain Phillips” ninth with $4.5 million.

“About Time” was 10th with $3.462 million.
