Screenwriter Shouts 'Shame on You' at Martin Scorsese Over R-rated 'Wall Street'

Even a legendary director like Martin Scorsese is used to receiving some sour reviews. The Goodfellas auteur likely wasn’t expecting one up close and personal after the screening of his newest film, The Wolf of Wall Street.

The comic drama, which earns its R rating over and again, so infuriated one screenwriter attending Saturday’s L.A. screening he gave Scorsese his very negative review in person. An actress who attended the screening reported the fiery exchange via her Facebook page. Seems she wasn’t a fan of the finished product either.

“[L]ast night was torture at the Academy — ‘The Wolf Of Wall Street’ – three hours of torture – same disgusting crap over and over again – after the film they had a discussion which a lot of us did not stay for – the elevator doors opened and Leonardo D. Martin S. and a few others got out then a screen writer ran over to them and started screaming – shame on you – disgusting – “

A Paramount rep who was with Scorsese said that no one screamed at the director, but admitted that one person offered “a negative comment.”

The Wolf of Wall Street, which opens nationwide Dec. 25, follows the true tale of a morally twisted stockbroker (Leonardo DiCaprio) who became rich enough to feed most, if not all, of his unsavory desires.
