'Iron Man 3' 2013's Biggest Money Maker, Sequels Dominate Top 10

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 31 (UPI)–“Iron Man 3” was the top-grossing film of 2013 at the global box office, raking in $1.2 billion in receipts, Hollywood’s Variety.com reported.

Coming in at No. 2 on the year-end blockbuster roster is “Despicable Me 2” with $918.7 million, followed by “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” at No. 3 with $795.1 million, “Fast & Furious 6” at No. 4 with $788.7 million and “Monsters University” at No. 5 with $743.6 million.

Rounding out the top tier are “Man of Steel” at No. 6 with $662.8 million, “Gravity” at No. 7 with $653.3 million, “Thor: The Dark World” at No. 8 with $629.4 million, “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” at No. 9 with $614.1 million and “The Croods” at No. 10 with $587.2 million.
