Actress Scarlett Johansson will be hawking SodaStream on Super Bowl Sunday, much to the dismay of those who wish to boycott Israel.
The Avengers star will be featured on a SodaStream commercial on game day despite pressure against the company from the Boycott, Divest and Sanction voices. One of the Israeli company’s plants is in the Jerusalem suburb of Maale Edumim, according to The New York Post. That puts it on the “wrong side of the 1949 ceasefire line.”
That “green line” lasted for all of 18 years, until the 1967 Six Day War, and every proposed map for Israeli-Palestinian agreement has Maale Edumim on the Israeli side — but Johansson’s critics don’t care.
