Clay Aiken: Obama a Bust as Bipartisan Leader

Maybe Clay Aiken is sincere with his vow to bring bipartisanship to his newly launched Congressional campaign.

The former American Idol star announced his bid to unseat her Republican opponent Rep. Renee Ellmers earlier today via a five-minute video announcement. The clip found Aiken vowing to represent both parties if elected.

Before his first official day as a candidate ended he took President Barack Obama to task for failing to deliver on his promise to unite both political parties. He spoke on CNN about the enduring gridlock issue inside the Beltway, a problem Obama hasn’t been able to solve.

I think there is systematically a problem in Washington with people not talking to each other and not working together, and I don’t think the president is immune from that criticism,” said Aiken, who is looking to challenge North Carolina Republican Renee Ellmers if he wins the Democratic primary. “I think that the president could do a better job reaching out to congressional leaders to try to come to workable solutions for both parties and for the people of the country.
