Drake Blasts Rolling Stone for Putting Philip Seymour Hoffman on Cover, Not Him

Rolling Stone magazine doesn’t have the cache it did during its glory days.

The publication is physically smaller than it used to be, and it now competes with dozens of online music sites for our attention.

It’s still an honor to appear on the magazine’s front cover, one many young artists imagine while rocking out in their garage.

Drake was supposed to grace the magazine’s next cover but learned he had been replaced by Philip Seymour Hoffman. The Capote star died earlier this month, and the magazine chose to honor him with their cover space along with an accompanying article remembering his great work.

That didn’t sit well with Drake, who fired off the following tweet about the change. The message is no longer on his Twitter account, but TheWrap.com reported on it earlier today.

I’m disgusted with that. RIP to Phillip Seymour Hoffman. All respect due. But the press is evil.

He also claimed the magazine misquoted him regarding fellow rap star Kanye West.

Later, he appeared to be angry at all media outlets, not just the veteran rock magazine.

I’m done doing interviews for magazines. I just want to give my music to the people. That’s the only way my message gets across accurately.
