'Scandal' Star, Obama Supporter: 'Disappointment' in WH's Lack of Transparency

Joe Morton, one of the stars of the hit show Scandal and a President Barack Obama supporter, said he was let down by the Obama administration’s lack of transparency.

“I think there’s a bit of a disappointment. I mean one of the things that he talked about was that, you know, everything would be out in the open,” Morton told CNN’s Candy Crowley on Sunday. “And I was really looking forward to that. That there would be less kind of behind closed doors.”

Morton, who said that he was a fan of Obamacare because his son was able to get on his healthcare plan, plays the leader of B-613, the shadowy and covert agency that even the fictional president on Scandal does not control. He and Kerry Washington, another Obama supporter who worked to re-elect him, portray two of the most powerful black characters on prime time television.

Especially after the NSA spying revelations, others have blasted the Obama administration’s secrecy. The executive editor of The New York Times has said the Obama administration was the most secretive White House in her lifetime. And a former executive editor of The Washington Post said the Obama administration was the most “closed, control-freak administration I’ve ever covered.”
