At last night’s Oscars, Ellen DeGeneres surprised the delivery guy from Big Mama’s & Papa’s Pizzeria in Hollywood by having him delivery his pies to some of Hollywood’s biggest stars right on the air during the big show.
DeGeneres passed a hat for a tip and gathered hundreds of dollars, but now TMZ reports the deliveryman wasn’t aware of the large sum gathered for the pizzas and tip.
During the March 2 Oscars broadcast, DeGeneres surprised Edgar the pizza delivery man by having him come out on stage and deliver slices to the first few rows of the audience, filled with such stars as Brad Pitt, Chiwetel Ejiofor, director Martin Scorsese, Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep and others.
After a time DeGeneres passed around Pharrell Williams’ reproduction Vivienne Westwood Buffalo hat for tips gathering up hundreds of dollars to pay for the pies and for the tip.
After the appearance the pizza shop Tweeted “Thank you Ellen!” for all the free publicity the shop received.
But now gossip site TMZ reports that when they caught up with Edgar the delivery man, he was unaware that the over $200 tip was even collected from the stars.
Did DeGeneres stiff the pizza deliveryman?
