NATIONAL HARBOR, Maryland–The recent passing of Harold Ramis reminded movie goers of a time when Hollywood poked the powerful through satire and mockery.

Alex Marlow, the Editor in Chief of Breitbart News, told a standing-room-only crowd at the first day of CPAC that modern Hollywood no longer follows the trail blazed by Ramis. Now, A-listers do the president’s bidding rather than rib him for his false promises.

Marlow dressed down Hollywood during the inaugural Andrew Breitbart Defender of the First Amendment Award presentation, an honor given to radio giant Mark Levin. Breitbart taught us to engage Hollywood, not ignore it. The late media icon particularly wanted to reach out to the young people impacted by its progressive messages, Marlow said.

“It’s not enough to opt out,” Marlow said of Breitbart’s vision.

The youthful editor later called out comedian Will Ferrell for cutting a video with the First Lady to push her “Let’s Move” obesity agenda.

“It’s the least cool thing a celebrity can do,” he said, with an extra jab at the fitness ad: “With a combination like big government and flabby, lazy comedians, child obesity doesn’t stand a chance!”
