BROTHER'S KEEPER: What if Mitt Romney's Brother Asked Dinesh D'Souza for $1,000?

Bestselling author, academic, and filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza joined Breitbart News Saturday’s live broadcast from CPAC on Sirius XM Patriot channel 125 and explained the difference between him and President Obama is, “I am a third world guy who has embraced America, and, as I see it, he is an American-born guy who has adopted a third world ideology.”

D’Souza shared his thoughts with Breitbart News Executive Chairman Steve Bannon and Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow. Marlow asked what D’Souza thought about Obama’s new My Brother’s Keeper initiative. The filmmaker had a story to tell that shed light on just how the President treated his real brother, George Obama. D’Souza recounted that he had interviewed George for his movie 2016: Obama’s America, which he shot in Kenya prior to the 2012 presidential election.

Right before the 2012 election was to occur, D’Souza received a phone call from Kenya. “I get a call, and I look at my phone, and it is from Kenya. Like, who’s calling me in Kenya? It’s George!” George explained to D’Souza that he had fathered an illegitimate child, who was a year and a half old, and asked if he could please have $1,000 for some emergency treatment that his child needed:

He’s like, “Dinesh, can you help me?”

I said, “How am I going to get you money?”

“Oh, it’s easy,” he said. “Western Union.”

I say, “Well, isn’t there someone else you can call?”

D’Souza sent George the $1,000. The fact that he did made him scratch his head. “So it ends up I’m funding George Obama’s family medical treatments, and his brother is the President… It’s bizarre.”

Marlow followed up the story by asking D’Souza, “What if this story was about Romney and that he had treated his brother that way? Would this not have been a front page story on most every newspaper in the country?” D’Souza responded by saying, “We are living in a moment of history where the press has stopped being a press.” He continued by saying that to the press Obama has a “halo, and he is still having a honeymoon.”

According to Bannon, the left-leaning press has been coming after D’Souza for a long time, and he is not new to controversy. Bannon pointed out that the attacks have become more vicious since the release of D’Souza’s controversial film 2016, which posits that Obama does not want America to be exceptional. The Breitbart executive chairman drew a parallel between the late Andrew Breitbart and D’Souza, both being warriors against the establishment and subject to intense hatred and vitriol as a result.

According to D’Souza, his film 2016 catapulted him out of the pond of contempt into the ocean of contempt. Prior to its release, his books sold well, including having a number one bestseller, Obama’s America, but the movie 2016 has been seen by eight million people. However, D’Souza does not shy away from the hatred and doesn’t consider himself a victim: “I see this basically as a fist fight. This is political hardball.”

D’Souza claimed that like Andrew Breitbart, he is temperamentally suited for this kind of fight. From his college days as a conservative at Dartmouth where they would try to run people off campus for their ideas, “I have become very thick-skinned as a conservative.” D’Souza admitted that although it was sometimes unnerving, by the time he left college he learned to like the fight: “It is a fact that because I believe so strongly in the underlying cause, that gives me a fearlessness.”

D’Souza let the audience know his new movie, America, produced by Oscar winner Gerald Molen and John Sullivan, will debut in July. Meanwhile, this summer D’Souza is going to trial and pleading not guilty for an alleged illegal campaign donation of $20,000 to a senatorial candidate. Some speculate that he was targeted by the Department of Justice because he has been an outspoken critic of the Obama administration through his books and films.
