Radio Station Plays Nelly's 'Hot In Herre' Nonstop

A San Francisco radio station is getting social media tongues wagging wondering why it is playing the same song on a loop over and over again since 3 p.m. Friday.

The Bay Area’s Latino Mix 105.7 (Santa Clara) and 100.7 (San Rafael), have been playing an endless loop of the 2002 rap hit Hot In Herre by Nelly since 3PM on March 14 and everyone is wondering why.

Naturally, the stunt has gotten social media all atwitter with the hashtag #Nelly1057 trending.

Sources say that the endless Nelly loop is likely to announce a format change for the station going from Latino Mix to an English-language contemporary rhythmic brand to be called Hot 105.7.

This isn’t the first time a radio station has pulled a stunt like this, granted, even in the Bay Area. Back in 1992, San Francisco’s 107.7 switched to WiLD by playing Tone Loc’s Wild Thing for three days straight.

Slate reported that another station in Milwaukee did something similar. “In 2010, a Milwaukee radio station played a whole day of ‘songs about cheating inspired by Tiger Woods,’ temporarily rebranding itself as Tiger 106.9, in advance of a shift from smooth jazz to contemporary country.”

The station has since launched a Facebook page with a first post saying, “You feeling Hot?”
