Sex Abuse Lawsuit Against 'X-Men' Director 'First of Many' Against Hollywood, Lawyer Vows

Sex Abuse Lawsuit Against 'X-Men' Director 'First of Many' Against Hollywood, Lawyer Vows

A lawyer who specializes in sex abuse cases says this week’s lawsuit against director Bryan Singer is but one of several Hollywood abuse cases that will come to light in the coming weeks.

Today we learned of a suit against Bryan Singer, the director of the upcoming superhero sequel X-Men: Days of Future Past and a big Democratic donor, charging he drugged and sexually abused a 15-year-old boy back in 1999. Singer’s legal team denies the charges.

Lawyer Jeff Herman, who is representing the plaintiff, cautions Wednesday’s suit isn’t an isolated incident. Herman works as a sexual abuse attorney who previously sued former Elmo puppeteer Kevin Clash on abuse allegations.

Hollywood has a problem with the sexual exploitation of children,” Herman said in a statement. “This is the first of many cases I will be filing to give these victims a voice and to expose the issue.

The issue was brought to the fore in recent years by former child star Corey Feldman. The star of Stand By Me, The Goonies and The Lost Boys opened up in his 2013 memoir about the sexual abuse he and fellow teen star Corey Haim endured in Hollywood at the height of their fame.
