First Lady Michelle Obama, who frequently appears on late night talk shows as well as The View to promote her husband’s policies, will next appear on the ABC drama Nashville.
The FLOTUS and [singer Kellie] Pickler will guest star on the May 7 episode of the ABC Drama, titled “All or Nothing With Me.”
They’ll appear as themselves during a charity event held by Rayna (Connie Britton) at Fort Campbell after she finds out that Luke (Will Chase) has been injured Afghanistan.
Deadline reports that the Obama appearance may be designed to ensure the show’s renewal for a third season.
Like last season, Nashville is on the bubble for a renewal again this year but appears in good shape and likely to return. Still, Obama’s appearance comes a week before the Season 2 finale May 14, after which such decisions are usually made. The stunt casting probably won’t hurt the series, produced by Lionsgate, ABC Studios and Opry Entertainment.
