John Oliver Slams WHCD: 'An Alarming Display of Cultiness'

HBO’s John Oliver wasted no time trashing the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

Oliver’s new show, Last Week Tonight, airs on Sunday, and the WHCD festivities wrapped earlier that morning. That gave him enough time to mock the so-called “nerd prom” where mainstream journalists and celebrities mingle. The annual event was, in his words, “even worse than it sounds” and “an alarming display of cultiness.”

The sight of Susan Rice getting a Duck Dynasty star for his autograph apparently was too much for Oliver.

“The main purpose of the evening seems to be providing photos of glamorous celebrities completely unaware of who they are standing next to,” he cracked.
