Industry insiders are reporting that most of the cast of ABC’s The View is being fired, with both Jenny McCarthy’s and Sherri Shepherd’s jobs on the chopping block. Only Whoopi Goldberg is being retained.
Sources tell TMZ that Shepherd and McCarthy were fired Thursday. It is reported that producer Bill Geddie is also out.
Rumors are also circulating that producers might invite Rosie O’Donnell back. Some also say that producers are interested in Laila Ali, daughter of famed boxer Muhammad Ali. Ross Mathews and Jesse Palmer are reportedly also being mentioned.
Almost since her 2013 debut on the show, rumors have swirled that McCarthy’s spot at the table was endangered, but the show continued to claim her job was never in jeopardy.
McCarthy has been under heavy criticism for her stance against vaccinating children, and ABC was beset with complaints the moment she joined the program.
In April McCarthy announced on The View that she had become engaged to be married to actor Donnie Wahlberg.
In a Thursday tweet, McCarthy essentially confirmed her separation from the show:
