L.A. Rolls out the Red Carpet for Dinesh D'Souza's 'America' Premiere

The City of Angels is gearing up for the red carpet premiere of America, the latest film by conservative firebrand Dinesh D’Souza.

Attendees line up outside the theater before the screening.

The film, produced by the Academy-award winning producer of Schindler’s List Gerald Molen and D’Souza, takes viewers through the pivotal moments in American history, led by the men who carved out the country’s stake in the world and turned her from a unconquered continent to a superpower.

America promises to bring audiences “face-to-face with the heroes who built America, in the times in which they lived, bled, and sacrificed in order to build a great nation.”

“You’ll be there as Columbus sets foot on American soil, as bullets whiz by Washington’s head, as Douglass demands that America live up to the promises of her Founding Fathers, and as Lincoln sacrifices thousands of lives, including his own, to right a great wrong of history,” the studio announced.

D’Souza recently arranged an interview with former domestic terrorist Bill Ayers on Megyn Kelly’s Fox News program The Kelly File, which will air during the red carpet portion of tonight’s premiere. The exclusive interview will be Ayers’ first appearance on the cable news channel.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, America averaged $13,000 per theater in its first weekend of limited release in Houston and Atlanta, with a total gross of $39,000. It may be on track to exceed 2016: Obama’s America–D’Souza’s previous film, which grossed $33.4 million in theaters.
