Neil Patrick Harris to Host 2015 Oscars

Neil Patrick Harris to Host 2015 Oscars

How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris will host the 87th Academy Awards on Feb. 22, 2015.

Harris broke the news on Twitter through a video where he said “I’m in” and checked “Host the Oscars” off his bucket list.

The 41-year-old entertainer is no stranger to moderating Hollywood events, as he’s hosted the Tony Awards four times and the Emmy’s twice, and he’s reportedly won Emmy’s for hosting the Tony’s, but next year marks a milestone for Harris.

He wrote this sentiment of gratitude to ABC:

It is truly an honor and a thrill to be asked to host this year’s Academy Awards. I grew up watching the Oscars and was always in such awe of some of the greats who hosted the show. To be asked to follow in the footsteps of Johnny Carson, Billy Crystal, Ellen DeGeneres, and everyone else who had the great fortune of hosting is a bucket list dream come true.
