Jennifer Garner Calls Hollywood Out for Sexism

America’s sweetheart, Jennifer Garner, called Hollywood out for being sexist during a very real and straightforward interview she gave at Elle’s annual Women in Hollywood Awards event this week.

Garner told reporters that she and husband Ben Affleck compared notes at two different press junkets they did and found startling differences in the types of questions they were asked, according to ET:

I told him every single person who interviewed me, I mean every single one… asked me, ‘How do you balance work and family?’ And he said the only thing that people asked him repeatedly was about the tits on the Blurred Lines girl [model Emily Ratajkowski, his co-star in Gone Girl]…

As for work-life balance, he said no one asked him about it that day. As a matter of fact, no one had ever asked him about it. And we do share the same family. Isn’t it time to kinda change that conversation?

Garner also said it was “a little bit sad” that there had to be an event specifically devoted to celebrating women when “the ‘men in Hollywood’ event is every day — it’s called Hollywood,” notes ET. She was also adamant in stating that “Fifty-one per cent of the population should not have to schedule a special event to celebrate the fact that” women merely “get to play a part… in an art that tells the story of what it means to be human and alive.”

The star couple have three children together: Violet, 8, Seraphina, 5, and son Samuel, 2. Garner said in an interview earlier this month with Elle that, while her career ambitions shifted a bit once she had children in order to focus more on raising a family with Affleck, that he is extremely supportive of her.

“My husband is always the one saying to me, ‘You have to work, you have to work. This is part of who you are. We’ll figure it out.’ That’s powerful, when your partner has that serious mantra,” Garner said.
