Darth Vader Runs for Prime Minister, Turned Away at Polling Station for Not Removing Mask

Darth Alekseyevich Vader, an electrician formerly known as Viktor Shevchenko, attempted to run for Prime Minister of Ukraine on Sunday but was turned away at the polling station after he refused to take off his mask.

According to EOnline, the Sith Lord apparently had plans to challenge Prime Minister Vladimir Putin when he reported to polling officials in Kiev on Sunday with his credentials in hand. The situation seemed to take a turn for the worse when he was asked to reveal himself.

“Here is my face on the passport,” argued Vader. “Where does the law say that I have to take off my mask?”

Vader, ultimately denied the privilege to vote, reportedly predicted the outcome but still feels that his rights were violated. He remains optimistic for the future of Ukraine, though.

“It’s sad,” he explained. “The fact that I did not vote doesn’t mean that my empire will not win.”

Six additional Star Wars characters were also competing for seats in Parliament, including Princess Amidala, Chewbacca, and Yoda.

Unfortunately, the force may not strong with the group of Dark Lords. According to the BBC, their opponents, President Petro Poroshenko and Arseniy Yatseniuk, are “neck in neck” in the polls.

The official results should be announced by the close of business on Monday, but it doesn’t look like Ukraine plans to cross over to the dark side any time soon.
