Appearing in a promotional cypher for an upcoming release on his own Shady Records, Eminem raps a line about punching Lana del Rey in the face “twice like Ray Rice.”
In the promotion for the Shady XV compilation album, which features fellow Shady Records rappers Royce da 5’9 and Yelawolf, Eminem raps the following:
But I may fight for gay rights, especially if they d*ke is more of a knockout than Janay Rice/Play nice? B**ch I’ll punch Lana Del Rey right in the face twice, like Ray Rice in broad daylight in the plain sight of the elevator surveillance/’Til her head is banging on the railing, then celebrate with the Ravens.
Baltimore running back Ray Rice was suspended indefinitely from the NFL in September following leaked elevator surveillance footage that showed him punching then-fiancee Janay Palmer in the face at an Atlantic City casino.
Ironically, Lana Del Rey claims to be a huge fan of Eminem, telling PopCrush in 2012 that when she first discovered the rapper’s music, it changed her life.
“I found out music could be intelligent,” Del Rey said about Eminem’s work. “He wasn’t just rhyming for rhyme’s sake.”
