Hillary Theme Song for 2016: It’s Not Katy Perry

Hillary Theme Song for 2016: It’s Not Katy Perry

Pop singer Katy Perry reached out to Hillary Clinton this summer on social media with an offer to write her a theme song for a possible run at the White House.

In June, Perry posted this photo to her Instagram page of the duo at a book signing together. She captioned it with: “I told @hillaryclinton that I would write her a “theme” song if she needs it.”

Clinton later responded to Perry with references of her book “Hard Choices” and the pop star’s mega hit “Roar.”

“Well that’s not a Hard Choice. You already did! Keep letting us hear you Roar,” wrote Clinton, via Twitter.

In a recent turn of events, Perry might not get the chance to be the voice of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign, but this rugged, handsome cowboy might instead.

On Thursday morning, a music video imploring the former Secretary of State to run for office in 2016 was released by a group called “Stand With Hillary.”

Daniel Chavez, who worked for the Clinton administration, runs the California-based group responsible for the new video.

In the country-themed spot, an unidentified singer is heard singing words such as “Guys, put your boots on and let’s smash this ceiling!” and “She fights for country and my family, now it’s time for us to stand up with Hillary!”

All of this, as photographs of the former first lady with her family are displayed across the screen.

The lyrics were written by 2008 Obama campaign staffer Miguel Orozco, who has a couple of other hits under his belt.

Chavez told Fusion that he and Orozco wanted to form a group that would attract working-class folks, millennials, and Latinos.

“One of the things we know Hillary will need is more male supporters,” said Chavez, via Fusion. “Women support will be there…and country music is a perfect vehicle to relay stories, because so much of country music is a great storytelling platform.”

Four more music videos are expected to be released by the PAC group in an attempt to reach their target audience of Latinos and young people.

“We want to rekindle that symmetry that Clinton has with many people,” explained Chavez. “Hillary represents a lot of good things to a lot of people.”

Meet the pro-Hillary cowboy behind the new video that some say will “make your ears bleed“:
