Tiffany & Co. is reportedly the next business to feature a same-sex couple as part of its latest advertising campaign.
The luxury jewelry brand, which is based out of New York City, selected a real-life gay couple to pose for its new collection of engagement rings.
Linda Buckley, Tiffany & Co. VP of North American PR, elaborated on the company’s goal with the new campaign, telling Elle.com in a written statement:
Nowadays, the road to marriage is no longer linear, and true love can happen more than once with love stories coming in a variety of forms.
The Tiffany engagement ring is the first sentence of the story that a couple will write together as they create a life that is deeply intimate and exceptional, which is the message we hope to convey through this campaign.
Others who have incorporated sexual orientation into their advertisements in an unconventional way are General Motors, which showed gay couples in its commercials for the first time last year ahead of the Sochi Winter Olympic Games, and fashion retailers Banana Republic, Target, and Nike.
